ART/Word presents BALANCE: Visual Artists Exploring Its Ins & Outs

Please join the members of ART/Word, a collaborative of visual and performing artists, as we explore the theme of BALANCE, an exhibition curated by Stephen Fischer. My watercolor/mixed media painting, In The Balance, will be part of the exhibit.

Our virtual reception will be Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Each artist will share a statement about their work, and there will be 'balance'-themed song videos by Will McMillan and me. Follow this link for more information, and to join the Zoom reception.

Since 1981 the ART/Word Collaborative has been exhibiting illustrative works of art, based on a wide variety of themes. In this exhibit, MIRACLES, curated by Prof Stephen Fischer, our members pair written text with art that is especially created for this event. My painting, The Miracle of Joni will be on display.

Saturday March 4, 2023, 7:00 pm will be the ZOOM Opening Reception, with each artist presenting a statement about their work, as well as "miracle" – inspired musical performances by a variety of singers, including a song by me.

Boston Artists for Ukraine
A fundraising exhibition showcasing the work of local artists and a speaker event featuring volunteer organizations providing help to Ukraine

Sunday, 22 May, 2022, 4:00 to 7:30pm – Main Event: Exhibition Reception, Speakers, Live Music

Please join us on May 22nd, starting at 4:00pm, at the Wedeman Gallery at Lasell University for a fundraising exhibition reception and speaker event – Boston Artists for Ukraine. The exhibit will feature 33 local area artists of different origins and backgrounds, currently residing in the Greater Boston area. For the theme of the exhibition the artists were asked to present pieces that reflect their thoughts about the ongoing war in Ukraine, as well as their reflections on ideas of hope, peace, compassion, solidarity. Donations and proceeds from artwork sales will be going to help the people in Ukraine and refugees.

During the reception, from 5:00 to 6:00pm, there will be a speaker and music event featuring local and national nonprofit, grassroots organizations that are doing humanitarian and medical work in Ukraine and at the border. The organizers and volunteers will be sharing their stories and experiences, as well as providing information on how the visitors can contribute and donate to their mission in Ukraine.

Some of the organizations that will be featured at the event include: Cash for Refugees

The musical portion of the event will include traditional Ukrainian songs and original compositions by Slava Tolstoy and Misha Shirpal.

This event is free and open to the public.

In addition to the reception on Sunday, the exhibition will be on view on Saturday, May 21, from 1:00 to 5:00pm, as part of Newton Open Studios.

This year's theme is beliefs, and my painting, I Believe in Offering Tea, will be on display, along with works by other wonderful artists who created artworks specially for this annual event.

The Artist's Reception is on Saturday, March 5th: 7:00 – 9:00pm. Last year's virtual reception was so successful that we will be online again this year, with curator Stephen Fischer hosting the opening, and each artist making a statement about their work. The evening will include a number of "belief"-inspired musical presentations, including one of my songs.

The exhibit will be available to be viewed in-person in the Wedeman Gallery on the Lasell University campus.

SQUAM ART FAIR has a stellar line-up of over 30 artists from across North America and Canada who will be selling beautiful handmade work including: original paintings, jewelry, greeting cards, vintage dolls, handblown glass, art prints, photography, bags & purses, handbound books, music CD's, quilts and much more.

The work available for sale is exceptional and attendees are encouraged to walk about quaint and picturesque downtown Center Sandwich, and get their "passport" stamped at a variety of local shops and galleries.

The free "passport" can be picked up at the SQUAM ART FAIR, or at any of the participating venues: Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery, Willow Pond Antiques, Surroundings Art Gallery or Mocha Rizing. Once the passport is stamped at each venue, it can then be redeemed at the Corner House Inn for 10% off any entrée (lunch/brunch or dinner) for the entire month of September 2008.

SQUAM ART FAIR is the ending celebration of Squam Art Workshops, which is an extraordinary and inspirational four-day event hosted in Holderness, NH at the Rockywold-Deephaven Camps on the shores of Squam Lake.
